NSFAS is the most popular method of supporting education in South Africa. Many new students apply to the NSFAS each year in the expectation that theirs would be accepted. We are happy to respond to the many questions about the application process that we receive each year, including which TVET colleges accept NSFAS. We have you covered, so please take the time to carefully read this text to understand which universities they attend.
Who Qualify For NSFAS Funding
Candidates must fulfill the four criteria listed below in order to be taken into consideration for bursaries:
- All South African Funding candidates with combined annual household incomes under R350 000 are included in the SASSA grant beneficiaries.
- being handicapped R600,000 is the maximum annual household income.
- students who started their studies before 2023 and whose annual household income is less than R122,000.
NSFAS Fund for TVET Colleges
- R24,000 per year for housing in a city
- The cost of housing in a peri-urban location each year is R18,900.
- The cost of lodging in a rural area each year is R15,750.
- Transport (up to 40 kilometers from the institution) (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 annually
- Transport R7,000 annually
- R2900 is the annual incidental/personal care stipend.
NSFAS Fund What They Cover

How Do I Submit A TVET College NSFAS Application
NSFAS Account Funding Application:
- Account Funding for NSFAS Submission of a Request:
- Create a new account on myNSFAS or make changes to an existing one.
- Today, go to www.nsfas.org.za.
- Choose the “myNSFAS” tab.
- choose “Register”
- To allow NSFAS to authenticate your information, please tick this box.
- input your ID number exactly as it appears on your South African Identity Document in the field labeled (ID). Your full first and last names should match the ID number.
- Your current email address should be entered in this field.
- This will validate your email address.
- Enter the number from your cell phone.
- Create a password.
- Check your password a second time and add a photo ID.
- Click “Register”
- The provided email and mobile number will be sent to an OTP that will expire in 24 hours.
- Click “Submit” after entering the OTP.
- Your initial registration has been completed.
- The re-registration process is now finished.
- Click the APPLY tab to be sent to the online application form.
Documents for NSFAS Applications
- a certified copy of your South African ID card or birth certificate. You must show a certified copy of your unabridged birth certificate if you are under 16 years old and do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card.
- IDs for the parents or guardians (death certificate)
- IDs for the parents or guardians (death certificate if applicable)
- IDs for each occupant of your residence
- a certified copy of your most current transcript or exam results. (You are excluded from submitting this if you are presently enrolled in Grade 12).
- records from the university’s registrar (if applicable)
- documentation for lodging and travel (if applicable)
- Download the consent form, complete it, and have all candidates who have stated income sign it.
- If you have a disability, download and complete the Disability Annexure A Form.
