Srd 350 Sassa Grant Application 2024/2025

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) offers a temporary grant known as the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to help those who require emergency support due to a crisis or tragedy.  In reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SRD grant was created to help people who had lost their jobs or were otherwise unable to earn a living.
The SRD grant is a six-month payment of R350 every month.  The award is means-tested, therefore your income and assets will be considered when establishing your eligibility for the grant.  You must be a citizen, permanent resident, or refugee of South Africa, be out of work, not be receiving any other social grants or UIF benefits, and have no other sources of income in order to be eligible for the SRD award.
Applications for the SRD grant can be submitted in person or online through the SASSA website.  The SRD grant payment will be deposited immediately into your bank account if you are approved. It’s crucial to remember that the SRD grant is only a temporary solution meant to give those in need of immediate aid short-term relief.

Thousands of people living in South Africa currently depend on Sassa grants to make a living. The grants are distributed by the SA Social Security Agency to buy goods and services. Who Are Eligible For Srd 350 Sassa Grant Application 2024/2025

The following are the peoples who qualify to receive Sassa Srd 350 grants;

  • You must be a South African Citizen
  • You must be a Refugee in South Africa
  • You must be an Asylum Seeker in South Africa
  • You must be a Special Permit Holder in South Africa
  • You must be between 18 and 60 years old
  • You must meet the means test, with an income of R624 or less per month
  • You must be unemployed and NOT be receiving financial support from any other source
  • You must have insufficient financial means to support yourself
  • You must NOT be receiving any other social grants
  • You must NOT be contributing towards or eligible for UIF payment
  • You must NOT be receiving a stipend from NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme)

The grants are:

  • Older person’s grant (old age pension)
  • Child support grant
  • Care dependency grant
  • Grant in aid (if you live on a social grant but need someone to take care of you)
  • War veteran’s grant
  • Foster child grant
  • Disability grant

Applicants or their proxy will need to confirm or provide the below information to enable SASSA to consider their application:

Sassa Srd 350 grant applicants are to go by the following steps to apply:
1. CHOOSE AN APPLICATION METHOD
You can submit an application for the Sassa Grant through WhatsApp, the Sassa official website, or the SASSA Chatbot. Not all channels may be used; just one channel may be used by applicants. Choose from any of the below methods to apply:

  •  Provide your personal details
  •  You will receive a Reference number, an OTP and a link to click
  •  Click on the provided link, fill in your OTP and verify your account
  •  Fill in your surname and ID number
  •  Confirm the personal details that you provided via the WhatsApp chat

Srd Sassa Application 2024/2025 Via Online Portal 2024

  •  In your internet browser, visit the SRD Website
  •  Fill in your ID number and mobile number and click “send SMS”
  •  You will receive a 6-digit OTP via SMS
  •  Insert the OTP number on the SRD website and click “verify pin”

  •  In your internet browser, visit the SRD Website
  •  Click on the SRD R350 Grant assistance chatbox
  •  Fill in your ID number and mobile number
  •  On the chat, choose the option to apply for the SRD R350 grant
  •  Click on the SRD website link provided by the SASSA Chatbot
  •  Follow the SRD website steps

2. AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Read and agree to the clauses in the Declaration and the Consent:

  • Read Declaration and Consent Document
  • Agree to the content of the Declaration and Consent Document
  • Read and understand the You and Your Special COVID-19 SRD Grant document
  • Agree to understand the contents of the You and Your Special COVID-19

3. PROVIDE PERSONAL DETAILS

Provide your personal information, including:

  • ID Number
  • Full Name and Surname (as printed on your ID Document/ ID Card)
  • Gender
  • Physical Address
  • Contact Information (mobile number, email address)

4. CHOOSE A PAYMENT OPTION AND PROVIDE YOUR BANKING DETAILS

Fresh applicants with a personal bank account must provide the following information for payment:

  • Your Bank Name
  • Your Account Number
  • Your Branch Name
  • Your Account Type
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions
  • Submit your Banking Details

New applicants With no personal bank account, provide the following information for payment:

  • Choose Payment option – Cash Send
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions
  • Submit Banking Details

Existing Clients with Bank details must confirm the following:

  • Confirm Existing Personal Banking Details
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions
  • Click Submit
  • Clients with the Cash send Option who wish to add bank details
  • Choose Bank Name
  • Provide Account number
  • Provide Branch Name
  • Provide Account Type
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions
  • Submit Banking Details

5. RECEIVE A SMS ON YOUR MOBILE NUMBER

An SMS will be sent to applicants informing them of their banking information. The SRD R350 Grant application is now active as of getting this SMS.

 6: SASSA VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION

Your personal information (ID Number, Name and Surname) provided in your application is verified with the Department of Home Affairs database.

  • Your ID Number is matched against approved databases such as UIF, SARS, NSFAS etc.
  • Fraud Risk Scoring is conducted with Fraud prevention partners, whereby your ID number and mobile number are checked against the approved databases.
  • Your application is then Approved or Declined with the reason (see below a list of reasons for being declined).

Congratulations, you have successfully submitted your application if you followed the process given above.
