Social Relief distress 350 Grant is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on their behalf of themselves or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment and have no financial support from any other source. The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is administered in terms of section 32 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 (Act No. 13 of 2004) and is implemented with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance.

Are you an Asylum seeker, permanent resident and citizen of South Africa who is facing financial difficulty due to the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic and other national disasters can now apply for the Sassa R350 grant for 2024/2025. It is recommended that applicants submit their applications before the closing date. The Sassa R350 grant applicants are informed that no documents need to be uploaded and that personal information will be provided electronically.

In order for Sassa to contact them and inform them of the results of their application, applicants must make sure that Sassa has their mobile number (cell phone number). If SASSA should reject your application, you have the opportunity to file an appeal with the Department of Social Development within the month that your application was rejected. After your application is rejected, you will receive information on how to file an appeal. Every month that the application is turned down without an appeal request, the initial judgement will stand.

The online application for the Sassa R350 grant starts in January and runs through every month of the year. Your application will be automatically rejected if it is not submitted on time.

Who Is Eligible Application For Sassa R350 Grant

The following individuals are eligible for the Sassa R350 grant:

• You must be a South African Citizen
• You must be a Refugee in South Africa
• You must be an Asylum Seeker in South Africa
• You must be a Special Permit Holder in South Africa
• You must be between 18 and 60 years old
• You must meet the means test, with an income of R624 or less per month
• You must be unemployed and NOT be receiving financial support from any other source
• It would help if you had insufficient financial means to support yourself
• You must NOT be receiving any other social grants
• You must NOT be contributing towards or eligible for UIF payment
• You must NOT be receiving a stipend from NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme)

The grants are:

• Older person’s grant (old age pension)
• Child support grant
• Care dependency grant
• Grant in aid (if you live on a social grant but need someone to take care of you)
• War veteran’s grant
• Foster child grant
• Disability grant
