Through the official web site, students can submit an application for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas), which is available to people enrolled in public universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges. Before submitting a Nsfas application for the class of 2023, all students must first create a myNsfas account. Important Nsfas-related data can be viewed and managed by students using the myNsfas portal.
Deadline for NSFAS Applications 2023
NSFAS applications are now being accepted for 2023. Your NSFAS funding application must be received by September 28, 2023. The current application deadline for 2023 is January 31. Make sure to submit your application before the deadline because late applications won’t be accepted.

Who Qualify To Receive NSFAS Funding
To qualify for bursaries, applicants must adhere to four fundamental standards;
- every South African national
- All winners of SASSA grants are eligible for funding
- applicants whose annual household combined income does not exceed R350 000
- A disabled person: The total annual household income cannot exceed R600,000.
- students who started their studies before 2024 and whose household income is not higher than R122 000 annually
How to Submit an Online NSFAS 2024/2025 Application
- Edit an existing myNSFAS account or make one from scratch.
- For further information, go to www.nsfas.org.za.
- Go there by selecting the “myNSFAS” tab.
- decide on “Register.”
- To grant NSFAS permission to access your data and validate it, check the relevant box.
- Your South African identity document’s ID number must be entered precisely as it appears on the form (ID)
- Using your ID number as a guide, you should supply your full name and last name.
- You need to enter the email address you’re using right now.
- Check your email for correctness.
- Please provide your cellphone number.
Application Document for NSFAS Bursary
For your NSFAS application to be complete, you will require the following:
- Your personal email and mobile phone number
- ID copies of your parents, guardians, or spouse as well as a copy of your birth certificate
- Your income documentation or one year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
- Proof of income from your parents, guardian, or spouse
- You will not be needed to provide proof of income if you are an SASSA grant recipient.

- A completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form, available for download here, must be submitted by an applicant who has been identified by the Department of Social Development as a Vulnerable Child.
