NSFAS Open Date in 2023
NSFAS applications are now being accepted for 2023. By September 28, 2022, submit your NSFAS financing application. The application date for 2023 is currently January 31. Applications submitted after the cutoff date won’t be considered.
When Is The VUT NSFAS Loan Due

Amounts Paid Monthly to VUT Students by the NSFAS
The monthly fee for personal care is R2,900, paid yearly. The annual payment for the transportation allowance is R7,350. Private individuals: Qualified residences receive an annual payout of R25,200. Hostel lodging costs R33,000 per year.
Who Is Eligible for NSFAS Funding At VUT
- In South African citizens the household’s annual income is less than R350 000;
- You were given a grant by SASSA;
- You are enrolled in a report 191 or National Certificate Vocational program at a TVET institution; You’re considering starting your first undergraduate degree by enrolling at a public university;
- You want to enroll in a public university or TVET college to earn a degree;
- Despite having previously applied to institutions, your household’s annual income is less than R122 000;
- You must have completed Grades 9 and 10 to be eligible for NSFAS funding for a TVET institution, whereas Grade 12 is required to be eligible for NSFAS funding for a university.
Required Document For VUT NSFAS Application
- Attach any parent(s), guardian(s), spouse, or another household member (s) who earns an income with their most recent evidence of income, which should be a three-month old pay stub or pension statement. Finding out more about the family’s financial situation is crucial. If you don’t receive a salary- or pension slip, you must attach PROOF OF INCOME (by way of a sworn statement and six months’ worth of bank statements that aren’t more than three months old).
- If your MOTHER/GUARDIAN/SPOUSE IS A HOUSEWIFE, a sworn statement (not older than three months) must be included.
- If any member of the household is a PENSIONER, a certified copy of the PENSION SLIP (not older than three months) of your PARENT(S), GUARDIAN(S), SPOUSE, or any other member of the home must be attached.
- If your parent(s), guardian(s), or spouse is unemployed, a sworn statement (not older than three months) must be included. A WRITTEN CONFIRMATION FROM A COMMUNITY LEADER, such as a pastor, lawyer, or social worker, must also be included.
- If your PARENTS are SEPARATED but not legally divorced, a sworn statement (not older than three months) in that regard must be submitted by one of the parents, and PROOF OF INCOME (not older than three months) OF BOTH PARENTS must be attached.
- A certified copy of the DIVORCE ORDER must be attached if your PARENTS are LEGALLY DIVORCED. Attached must be a copy of both parents’ income documentation that is no older than three months.
- A CERTIFIED COPY/COPY OF THE DEATH CERTIFICATE(S) MUST BE ATTACHED IF THE PARENTS ARE DECEASED.
- For FARMERS and BUSINESSES, the most recent TAX ASSESSMENT (IT34) AND most recent FINANCIAL STATEMENTS of the farm/business must be submitted. These documents cannot be older than one year.
- Attach PROOF OF INCOME as well as documentation of the order authorizing the liquidation or administration of your parents’ assets if applicable.
- If you are being guarded, include a copy of the court order or submit a guardian’s sworn statement (s). If the biological parents are still alive, grandparents or other family members cannot act as guardians until a court order has been issued (CERTIFIED COPY OF THE COURT ORDER MUST BE ATTACHED).
- Attach copies of the applicant’s and every household member’s identity documents that have been certified on the same side as the photo and not the copy’s reverse.
