Govchat Sassa Application 2024/2025

In a bid to speed up the application process for the SRD grant, which is a short-term emergency relief measure offered by the government to support vulnerable individuals and households during the breakout of a pandemic and other national tragedies, the GovChat Sassa app was introduced in South Africa. Anyone can apply for the grant using their mobile devices on the GovChat SRD platform, and they can also get updates on the status of their applications and any modifications to the grant programme.

All South African nationals, lawful permanent residents, and refugees who fulfil the requirements for the SRD grant are given access to the SRD app.
The platform aims to enhance access to the grant and streamline the application process, especially for people who might have had trouble using existing application methods including online or in-person applications.  It’s crucial to remember that the SRD grant programme was terminated in April 2021, and as a result, new applications are no longer being accepted on the GovChat SRD platform.
