Govchat Sassa Grants Application Requirements

To apply for the SRD grants via the GovChat platform, you needed to meet the following requirements:

You must be South African citizenship or permanent residency, or refugee status.
You must be unemployed and did not receive any form of income, including social grants or UIF payments, during the period of application.
You must not be receiving any other form of financial support, including from your employers or any other government program.
You must be 18 years or older.
You did not qualify for any other COVID-19-related support or assistance.

Also, to apply for the SRD grant via the GovChat platform, you needed the following documentation:

A valid South African ID or passport number.
Your banking details or mobile money account information.
Your contact information, including your cellphone number and email address.
Proof of your residential address, such as a utility bill or rental agreement.

Govchat Sassa Grants Application Process

To apply for an Srd grant through Govchat, you must follow the steps below:

Dial 1347737# on your mobile phone to access the GovChat platform.
Select “COVID-19 SRD Grant” from the menu options.
Enter your South African ID or passport number when prompted.
Follow the instructions provided by the GovChat platform to provide the required personal and financial information and documentation.
Submit your application.
