Who Is Eligible For A NSFAS Sponsorship At A TVET College
For TVET college students to qualify for NSFAS financing, the following prerequisites must be met:
- must be a citizen of South Africa
- enrolled in or about to enroll in a PLP, NC(V), or Report 191 program
- There must be a need for financial assistance. A student’s eligibility for financial aid will be determined by NSFAS.
- According to the College’s policy on advancement or the progression suggestions in the Bursary Rules and Guidelines, returning students must satisfy the requirements for academic merit (whichever is higher)
- must not be registered for a degree that duplicates previously completed, paid training
- Applicants will be considered if their combined annual gross family income does not exceed R350 000 and they are accepted or receive a firm offer to enroll in a college.

When To Apply for Nsfas At Tvet College
TVET funding applications are subject to application cycles at NSFAS. So, once the application cycles are open, students can only apply.
- Online applications for the National Certificate Vocation (NC(v)), Semester 1, and Trimester 1 are accepted annually, as well as walk-in applications for assistive capture.
- According to the DHET calendar, trimester 2 and trimester 3 are in May and September, respectively.
- Walk-in, assisted capture application for semester two, June through July
