How Much Sassa Grant For Old Age: Sassa Grant Application
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides social grants to vulnerable and elderly individuals to assist with their basic needs. One of the grants offered by SASSA is the Old Age Grant, which is designed to provide financial assistance to elderly South Africans who have reached retirement age and are in need of support. The Old Age Grant is intended to supplement the income of the elderly and ensure that they can meet their basic needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter.
The amount of the Old Age Grant provided by SASSA is reviewed and adjusted annually in accordance with changes in the cost of living. As of September 2021, the monthly Old Age Grant amount is R1,970.00 per month. This amount is paid to eligible beneficiaries on a monthly basis via their chosen payment method, such as a bank account or a SASSA card.
The Old Age Grant is available to South African citizens or permanent residents who have reached the age of 60 years or older and meet the financial eligibility criteria. Applicants must undergo a means test to determine their financial eligibility for the grant. If approved, beneficiaries will receive the Old Age Grant for as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

How does Sassa pay Old Age grant?
SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) pays the Old Age Grant to eligible beneficiaries on a monthly basis via their chosen payment method. There are two main methods of receiving the Old Age Grant:
- Bank account:
Beneficiaries can choose to have the Old Age Grant paid directly into their bank account. They will need to provide SASSA with their bank account details, including the name of the bank, the branch code, and the account number. The grant will be deposited into the account on the first day of each month.
- SASSA card:
SASSA issues a special debit card called a SASSA card to beneficiaries who do not have a bank account. The Old Age Grant is paid onto the SASSA card on the first day of each month. Beneficiaries can use the card to withdraw cash at ATMs or to make purchases at shops that accept debit cards.
It is important for beneficiaries to ensure that they keep their bank account or SASSA card details up to date with SASSA. Any changes in banking information should be reported to SASSA as soon as possible to avoid any delays or disruptions in receiving the Old Age Grant. sassa grant application
