Is Sassa R350 Increased: Will the R350 grant increase 2023?

The R350 COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) award was created in 2020 to provide short-term financial support to those who lost their income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social grants are offered by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to qualified individuals.

It has been a topic of discussion and public concern whether the R350 SRD award will be increased because it has been a significant source of support for many families and vulnerable persons. People have been calling for adequate social grant increases for years so that they may live with dignity, but we have only seen increases of R10. The fact that President Ramaphosa indicated that the government is working on a Basic Income Grant (BIG) and that social grants must increase to assist people because of rising prices shows that he is definitely feeling pressure to take action.

We don’t know how much Finance Minister Godongwana will raise social grants, but we do know that increases in social grants have historically lagged behind the actual cost of living rises. Social grants alone have not been sufficient. We can guarantee a proper increase in all funds if we move swiftly. Minister Godongwana must boost all grants, including the R350 grant, by R500 in his budget speech on February 22, 2023. The revised grant amounts would offer immediate assistance to help households put food on the table if all payments were increased by R500.

In the long run, a Basic Income Grant of R1417 must be introduced by 1 April 2024 and must be provided to all people with low to no income between the ages of 18 and 59. Also, all problems with the R350 grant must be immediately resolved, additional funding must be provided, and all persons who qualify, including caregivers, must receive it.

How to Apply for Sassa R350 Online

To apply for the SASSA R350 COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant online, follow these steps:

• Visit the SASSA website: Go to the SASSA website at https://srd.sassa.gov.za.
• Click on “Apply Here”: On the homepage, click on the “Apply Here” button to start the application process.
• Agree to the terms and conditions: Read through the terms and conditions and click on the “Accept” button to proceed.
• Enter your personal information: Enter your personal information, including your name, ID number, and contact details.
• Verify your information: Verify that the information you have entered is correct.
• Enter your banking details: Enter your banking details, including your bank name, account number, and branch code.
• Upload your documents: Upload your required documents, including your ID document or passport, proof of residence, and a recent bank statement.
• Review your application: Review your application to ensure that all the information and documents are correct.
• Submit your application: Once you are satisfied that your application is complete and accurate, click on the “Submit” button.
• Check your application status: After submitting your application, you will receive an SMS with a reference number. You can use this reference number to check the status of your application on the SASSA website.

If your application is approved, you will get an R350 payment every month for a maximum of six months. In the event that your application is denied, you will be notified and given an understanding.
