If you’re interested in applying for an NSFAS bursary at UNISA, learn more about the application process and where to get the application form here. Potential scholarship applicants have access to the NSFAS Application through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) committee.

NSFAS provides monthly stipends to students, and the college also offers financial aid on occasion. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), which administers monthly allowance payments, is used by the University of South Africa (Unisa). The first and third weeks of the month are when allowances are processed. The new electronic fund transfer (EFT) procedure that Unisa will implement will be used to deposit the NSFAS reimbursements and allowances into student accounts. Persons Prohibited From Submitting UNISA NSFAS Applications

Your application won’t be considered if you were awarded money through NSFAS in 2023.

  • a diploma or degree from an undergraduate course of study.
  • if You aren’t a South African citizen.
  • require money to pay for a postgraduate degree, a program, or a temporary certificate.

Application deadline for NSFAS Bursaries

This a reminder that the new NSFAS 2023 application deadline is Friday, January 21, 2022. The previous cutoff date was this past Friday, January 7, 2023.

WHO MUST SUBMIT A UNISA NSFAS APPLICATION

  • applications for the 2023 academic year as well as students beginning their first undergraduate degrees.
  • The maximum N+ was not exceeded and the undergraduate degree was not completed in 2024 for returning students who missed one academic year.
  • NSFAS will accept both returning and new students who did not sign up for classes during the previous academic year in 2023.
  • Students who wish to move receive financial aid through the DHET award from another NSFAS bursary.

Date in 2023 for NSFAS Appeal

The NSFAS appeals process began on February 3rd. The student or applicant must submit any appeals via the NSFAS self-service portal at www.nsfas.org.za.

Students who meet the requirements to do so will be given automatic access to do so on their accounts. In the event that the assessment is not favorable, the students have 30 days to file an appeal.

  • NSFAS Account Funding Application:
  • Create a new myNSFAS account or make changes to an existing one.
  • To see, go to www.nsfas.org.za.
  • Turn on the “myNSFAS” tab.
  • Go ahead and “Register.”
  • For NSFAS to be able to authenticate your information, please tick the appropriate box.
  • Please enter your ID number exactly as it appears on your South African identity card in the area provided.
  • submit the form (ID)
  • Using your ID number as a guide, enter your entire name and last name.
  • The email address you are currently using must be entered.
  • Ensure the accuracy of your email.
  • Your mobile number should be entered.
  • Set up a password.
  • Check your ID picture and password.
  • Select “Register.”
  • An OTP will be sent to the entered mobile phone number and email address (this OTP expires after 24 hours)
  • Click “Submit” after entering the OTP.
  • The re-registration procedure is now complete.
  • By clicking the APPLY tab, you may access the online application form.

Conditions for NSFAS Bursaries at UNISA

  • The preceding academic year’s average for all students must have been at least 75%.
  • The bursary is only available to South African citizens enrolled at Unisa for a formal qualification in any discipline.
  • The bursary only covers the price of tuition and necessary textbooks.
  • Awards will only be presented if there is sufficient funding.

Students who received the bursary in 2023 do not need to submit applications. These students need to have an average of 75% in order to be eligible for the bursary in 2023.
