Do you require financial aid to attend a higher education institution? Submit an application for a bursary via the NSFAS. The NSFAS Application Form is made available to potential applicants by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) committee for bursary applications. NSFAS is a bursary program for students who are unable to acquire bank loans, study loans, or other sorts of financial aid because they do not have the money to pay for their education. It is supported by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

Please be aware that financial help is only considered for students who have been accepted to a higher learning institution and who meet all requirements to study for higher education.
Document Required For NSFAS Scholarship
- a certified copy of your birth certificate or identification card for South Africa
- Give a certified copy of your original birth certificate if you are under the age of 18.
- 16 years old and without a smart ID card or green bar-coded ID.
- IDs for the guardians or parents (death certificate)
- IDs for the guardians or parents (death certificate if applicable)
- IDs for every resident of your home
- an official copy of your most recent test results or transcript. (If you are currently enrolled in Grade 12, you are exempt from submitting this.)
- records from the registrar of the university (if applicable)
- paperwork for lodging and trip (if applicable)
- Download the consent form, complete it, and have each applicant who has disclosed income sign it.

NSFAS Documents Needed 2023/2024
Who Qualifies For NSFAS Funding
- be a resident of South Africa;
- Your household’s total annual income is less than R350 000;
- You have received a grant from SASSA;
- You are registering for your first undergraduate degree at a public university or you are enrolled in a report 191 or National Certificate Vocational program at a TVET college;
- You are requesting admission to pursue a degree at a public university or TVET college;
- You have previously registered for college and your household’s annual income is less than R122 000;
- You have passed Grade 9 & 10 to earn NSFAS funding to study at a TVET college;
- You have passed Grade 12 to receive NSFAS support to study at a university.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The application deadline for NSFAS 2023 has been extended to Friday, January 7, 2023.
