Who Can Receive an NSFAS Allowance

  • To be eligible for bursaries, applicants must adhere to the following four standards;

NSFAS Allowance Distribution Method

  • An annual payment of R15,000 will be distributed over 10 months. It will be given out on the first of every month in an amount of R1500.
  • Students will receive an SMS asking them to update their banking information on the FUNDI system after the data has been entered into the system.
  • The amount of the living allowance will be deposited into each student’s individual bank account.
  • For returning students who were confirmed for 2022 and funded for 2023, the course materials will be distributed automatically.
  • New students and returning students who are not supported in 2023 must complete an option form before being granted a learning material allowance. We have taken the following actions in accordance with the policy that states, “A student who is receiving financial assistance from NSFAS for the first time is required to purchase a digital learning device in that year of study if the student is not in possession of a digital learning device already.”
