Sassa Srd Grant Application Online 2024/2025

The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant), often referred to as the COVID-19 SRD Grant, was established by the South African government with the purpose of providing financial assistance to persons who lack the means to maintain themselves.  The SRD grant has certain prerequisites, including age, the same as other SASSA programmes. For as long as candidates match the requirements, they will receive a grant award of R350 every month.
If your application is turned down, you have the option to contest the SASSA’s decision by filing a complaint with the Department of Social Development during the month your application was turned down.  The news that your application has been rejected will include information on how to file an appeal.  During each month that the application is turned down, a request for an appeal must be made; otherwise, the first judgement will stand.
Providing food in the form of a food parcel or a food voucher is considered a Social Relief of Distress.  Some provinces provide this help in the form of money.  The duration of Social Relief of Distress is typically up to three months, although it may be extended for an additional three months.

  • The Sassa R350 grant application deadline is on the 31st of March 2023. All active R350 grant applications or reapplications made since April 2022 will automatically be considered for each month until March 2023.

Who Is Eligible For Sassa Grant Application Online 2024/2025

The following are the peoples who qualify to receive Sassa Srd 350 grants;

  • You must be a South African Citizen
  • You must be a Refugee in South Africa
  • You must be an Asylum Seeker in South Africa
  • You must be a Special Permit Holder in South Africa
  • You must be between 18 and 60 years old
  • You must meet the means test, with an income of R624 or less per month
  • You must be unemployed and NOT be receiving financial support from any other source
  • You must have insufficient financial means to support yourself
  • You must NOT be receiving any other social grants
  • You must NOT be contributing towards or eligible for UIF payment
  • You must NOT be receiving a stipend from NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme)

You will need to submit the following personal information when applying, so make sure you have all your details on hand:

  • ID Number (or your passport number/ special permit if you are not a South African citizen)
  • Full Name and Surname (as stated on your official ID document/ passport)
  • Phone number (SASSA will use this number to contact you regarding your status so make sure you have access to this mobile number)
  • Physical Address

In order to apply for the SASSA 350 SRD Grant, it is important that you meet the following criteria to apply:

  • You must reside in South Africa
  • You must meet any 1 of these criteria:
    • You must be a South African Citizen
    • You must be a Refugee in South Africa
    • You must be an Asylum Seeker in South Africa
    • You must be a Special Permit Holder in South Africa
  • You must be between 18 and 60 years old
  • You must meet the means test, with an income of R624 or less per month

Sassa Grant Application Online 2024/2025

To apply for Sassa 350 online, you must go through the following process:

  •  In your internet browser, visit the SRD Website (if you are an Asylum Seekers or Special Permit Holders, apply here)
  •  Fill in your mobile number and ID number and click “send SMS”
  •  You will receive a 6-digit OTP via SMS
  •  Insert the OTP number on the SRD website and click “verify pin”
