The South African Social Security Agency administers the Sassa 350 grant application process as part of its temporary financial assistance innitiatives for people in need financially. Alternatively, it is known as the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.  The grant is designed to benefit persons who have suffered financial hardship or job loss as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and other national disasters. If your application is accepted, you will start receiving a payment of R350 every month for a maximum of 6 months.
Each of the grants may have different application requirements for eligibility and a different application procedure. You can go to a SASSA office or submit an online application through the SASSA website to find out if you qualify and want to apply for a grant. Visiting a SASSA office in person, applying online through the Sassa website, applying via WhatsApp, or applying using the Sassa chatbot are all options for the Sassa 350 grant in 2024.  Your ID number, contact information, and bank account information must all be provided when applying.
Please note that all information will be provided electronically and there is no need to upload any documentation. Please ensure that you provide SASSA with a Mobile Number (cell phone number) where they can reach you to provide you with feedback on the status of your application. Should your application be declined, you will have the right to appeal the SASSA decision by lodging an appeal with the Department of Social Development for each month your application was declined

Sassa Srd Grant 350 Application Date

The disbursement of the Sassa grant is done every month, it is, therefore, needful to apply each month because applications are open each month. In the event that your application is approved, you will get a payment of R350 each month for a maximum of six months.

Who Qualifies For Sassa Srd 350 Grant

To apply for the SASSA 350 grant, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must not be receiving any other social grant or unemployment benefit.
  • You must not have received any other COVID-19 relief funding from other sources.
  • You must have no income or any form of financial assistance.

Sassa Srd Grant 350 Application Requirements 2024/2025

Applicants are to provide the following requirements when applying:

  • Medical report: For disability or care dependency grants, a medical report must be completed by a doctor or specialist.
  • Child’s birth certificate: For child-related grants, you will need to provide the child’s birth certificate.
  • Bank account details: This is required for electronic payments of the grant.
  • Proof of residency: This can be a utility bill or lease agreement that confirms your current address.
  • Proof of income: This can include payslips, a letter from your employer, or bank statements.

The SASSA R350 grant application process can be done in two different ways either online or via WhatsApp. Here are the steps for applying:

  • Fill in the required pieces of information such as personal details, contact information, and banking details.
  • Submit the required documents such as ID, proof of address, and banking details.
  • Submit the application form.
  • After submitting, you will receive an SMS confirming that your application has been received and will be processed.

To apply using WhatsApp, follow the following steps:

  • Add the SASSA WhatsApp number, 082 046 8553, to your mobile phone contact list.
  • Send a message to the Sassa number and follow the instructions to complete the application process.
  • Provide all the required information such as personal details, contact information, and banking details.
  • Submit the required documents such as ID, proof of address, and banking details.
  • Submit the application forms.
  • After submission, you will receive a message confirming that your application has been received and will be processed.
