Who Should Apply For UNISA NSFAS

NSFAS Account Funding Application:

  • Create a new myNSFAS account or make changes to an existing one.
  • Observe www.nsfas.org.za.
  • Activate the “myNSFAS” tab.
  • Choose “Register.”
  • To allow NSFAS to verify your information, check the appropriate box.
  • then key in your ID number exactly as it is shown on your South African Identity card.

  • Using your ID number as a guide, enter your entire name and last name.
  • Please enter your current email address.
  • Verify the accuracy of your email.
  • Type in your cell phone number.
  • Establish a password.

  • Choose “Register.”
  • The provided email address and mobile phone number will receive an OTP (this OTP expires after 24 hours)
  • Type the OTP in and click “Submit.”
  • You have now finished the re-registration process.

Applications For UNISA NSFAS’s Required Documents

The following documents need to be certified copies, and they can’t be older than three months. The South African Police Service or the South African Post Office must certify your documentation. This also holds true if you are under 18 or above 18 but STILL DEPENDENT on your parent’s or guardian’s combined family income:

  • a verified copy of your birth certificate or South African ID.
  • You must present a certified copy of your unabridged birth certificate if you are under 16 years old and do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card.
  • IDs for the guardians or parents (death certificate)
  • If you are working, you may use your pay stubs or appointment letters as evidence of your own or your guardian’s annual household income. (This applies to all forms of income for all family members, including grants from SASSA, Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and retirement, life, disability, or other benefits received in a single payment or over the course of a year.)
  • a certified copy of your most recent transcript or set of test results. (If you’re currently in Grade 12, you don’t have to turn this in.)
  • records from the university’s registrar (if applicable)
  • travel and lodging documentation (if applicable)
  • Download the consent form, complete it, and distribute it to everyone who has declared their income.

NSFAS Bursary Deadline

Important Information: The NSFAS 2023 application deadline has been postponed to Friday, January 21, 2023. The previous deadline was this past Friday, January 7, 2023.
