My Nsfas Funding Application 2024/2025
The NSFAS Funding helps students who want to further their education by covering the fees of attending any public university or college in South Africa to pursue specific degrees or diplomas. To be considered for financial aid to pay their tuition and other study-related costs, eligible students must submit an online NSFAS application through the online application form portal.
Nsfas application date open for the 2024/2025 academic year will be open from the 28th of September and the online application will be closing on the 31st of January. Applicants who are applying for funding from the Nsfas in the year 2024 are to make sure they are qualified and have uploaded all the required supporting documents to prove their eligibility.
The Nsfas bursary is indicated for accommodation, living allowance, transport and learning materials that need to be aligned with the approved latest DHET guidelines. Nsfas makes sure they pay for the needs of all applicants throughout their study duration.

If you are a South African who is intending or currently studying at any of the public Tvet Colleges or universities, and wishes to apply for bursaries through the Nsfas are now invited to go ahead to apply. Nsfas application for 2024/2025 will be open from the 28th of September and the application will be closing on the 31st of January.

Who Qualifies For Nsfas Funding
The following are the people who are qualified to receive funding from Nsfas:
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
What Does My Nsfas Funding Cover 2024/2025
Funding given to applicants covers the following:
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
- Accommodation
As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence) - Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500 per annum
- Living allowance R15, 000 per annum
- Book allowances R5200 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences
TVET COLLEGE STUDENTS
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum

My Nsfas Funding Application Process 2024/2025
NSFAS Funding applications are as follows:
- Register online as a user on myNSFAS or re-register a myNSFAS account
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za
- Click on the “myNSFAS” tab
- Click on “Register“
- Tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify your details
- Then enter your ID number on the field as it is stated on your South African Identity Document (ID)
- Type in your full name and surname as per your ID number
- Type in your current email address
- Confirm your email address
- Type in your cellphone number
- Create a password
- Confirm password
- Upload your ID Copy
- Click on register
- An OTP will be sent to the email and cell number provided (this OTP expires after 24 hours)
- Type in the OTP and click submit
- You have now completed your re-registration
- Click the APPLY tab to be directed to the online application form.

Applicants must bare in mind that, NSFAS needs to be paid back. Students borrow money to cover their tuition costs. The loan, however, is only required to be paid back once you have obtained your qualification, finished high school or college, found employment, launched a business, and your annual income is R30,000 or more.
