SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) Unemployment Relief is a temporary measure introduced by the South African government to provide financial assistance to unemployed South Africans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The relief measure is intended to help individuals who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic and are struggling to make ends meet. The relief measure is implemented by SASSA, and eligible beneficiaries are required to apply for it through the agency.
The relief measure provides a monthly payment to beneficiaries, and the amount paid out is determined based on means-testing. The SASSA Unemployment Relief measure is a critical social safety net for vulnerable individuals during this time of economic hardship, and it has helped to alleviate some of the difficulties caused by the pandemic.
