Applicants applying for financial support from Nsfas for their higher education can do so once they are qualified using the myNsfas portal. Applications for the Nsfas 2024/2025 will be open from the 28th of September and the applications will be closing on the 7th of January. Applications that will be submitted after the online application date will be rejected and cant is processed, it is in this wise that applicants are to apply as quickly as possible.
Who Is Qualify For NSFAS Funding
Applicants must follow four essential requirements in order to be eligible for bursaries;
- South African Citizens
- Funding candidates whose annual household combined income does not exceed R350 000 are eligible for all SASSA grant winners.
- A person with a disability: The household’s annual income cannot be more than R600,000.
- Students who started their education before 2022 and whose household income is not higher than R122 000 annually
What NSFAS Bursaries Cover Is Found Below
The following are the things that college and university’s NSFAS bursaries cover.
- Accommodation
- According to what the university actually charges (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
- Transport (up to 40 kilometres from the institution) (up to 40 km from the institution) year, R7 500
- R15,000 per year as a living allowance
- R. 5200 per year in book allowances
- Students living in catered houses receive an incidental/personal care payment of R2900 per year.

Before you can access your account and see your NSFAS status, you must log in. The ways to access your NSFAS student account are listed below.
- Visit https://my.nsfas.org.za.
- Enter Your username and
- Enter your password (should be entered in the corresponding fields).
- Then click Sign In.
Documents Needed When Applying For Nsfas In 2024/2025
South Africa, intend to enrol in college or university in 2024, or are presently enrolled in a public university or TVET college, and meet the qualifications listed below, you may be eligible for an NSFAS bursary.
- a South African national;
- Your annual household income is less than R350 000; SASSA gave you a grant;
- you are enrolled in a report 191 or National Certificate Vocational program at a TVET institution, or you are applying to a public university to start your first undergraduate degree;
- You want to enrol in a public university or TVET college to pursue a degree;
- Your home earns less than R122 000 annually, and you’ve already applied to colleges;
- You must have completed Grades 9 and 10 to be eligible for NSFAS financing for a TVET college, and Grade 12 to be eligible for NSFAS funding for a university.
Application Through My Nsfas Login.co.za
Do you want to apply for Nsfas, follow the process below:
- Visit www.nsfas.org.za.
- Click the “myNSFAS” tab.
- Choosing “Register.”
- NSFAS will validate your information by checking the relevant box.
- Please fill out the form with your South African Identity Document’s ID number precisely as it appears on the document (ID)
- Your ID number should be used as a guide when entering your full name and last name.
- Please enter the email address you are currently using.
- Make sure your email is accurate.
- Type in your cell phone number.
- Create a password.
- As well as the ID photo you provide, and click “Register.”
- The entered email address and mobile number will receive an OTP with a 24-hour validity period.
- Once the OTP has been entered, click “Submit.”
- Your application is now finished.
- By selecting the APPLY option, you may access the online application form.

How Do I Set Up a Student Account for NSFAS
It is highly recommended that students and NSFAS applicants create a MyNSFAS account. The steps are as follows:
- On www.nsfas.org.za, click “myNsfas account” from the menu.
- your username and password, respectively.
- There is a tab for “My personal details.”
- Instead, provide your active email or mobile number.
- Click “Update your details” to continue.
- A One Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to the new phone number and email address you provided.
- After entering the OTP, click submit.
- Your data will be updated automatically.
- Your email address serves as your login information. Don’t share your login information.
- Current and prospective students typically use the MyNSFAS platform to submit their NSFAS online scholarship application.
